I Want My Party Back

So, I have considered this particular post for quite some time. I have decided that not only will I write it, I will post it. Afterall, if you are going to say things, you have to follow up with some action right?

I want to write every possible caveat in the world right now, this is hard. I want to write in more detail of why I love Labour, why I am passionate about Labour and why I care so much. Suffice to say, I do, I am and I couldn't care more about the Labour Party. Why do I care? I care b… Continue

A voice - foreshore.

It has been a while since I last blogged. I guess you get to that point where you become absorbed in the day to day doing of things, you sometimes forget to put your thoughts down in any particular way.

I saw on the front page today that there is more happening around the repeal of the Foreshore and Seabed Act. I don't intend to blog on that, I can't, I am a little EMOtional about the whole thing and don't want to rant about how wrong I think it is that this government and its best mates, the M… Continue

Solidarity forever - The EMA is a union too.

A Mr Spondre wrote on Red Alert today opposing what Darien Fenton had said about the Productivity Plan from Business New Zealand. He questioned the worth of trade union organisations, he questioned the value they add in the work place, he questioned the validity of paying for union services, he questioned the right of workers not part of a union to enjoy that which had been achieved through the delivery of those paid services. Here's what I said to him in reply.

1. Unions are not there to prote… Continue

A little irony with a pinch of .."what the"?

The appointment of Dr Brash as the head of a review committee that will seek, over time, to create and propose mechanisms and policy shifts to reduce the income gap between Australia and New Zealand is a hopeless exercise in futility.

Why would a government seek independent advice on something that for 9 years in opposition said it had the solution to, Tax Cuts... oh, forgive me, tax cuts are not the fashion, for obvious reasons. It is a shame that the government has foregone this opportunity t… Continue

My point is this...

Some little shit had a go at me today for asking what the turn out was in Mt Albert. Is that not a good question to be asking? I think you have to ask yourself why you get defensive more than why the question is being asked in the first place.

You cannot claim that 91% support in Avondale is a massive, tide turning victory unless the numbers in turn out match. 91% of what? 91% of 3,000 is absolutely fantastic, 91% 0f 30, not so much. Why can't we do that? or more importantly, why is it offensiv… Continue
