I don't think anyone is saying New Zealand has no problems with numeracy and literacy, but according to OECD/PISA results, it would be fair to argue that the media and National were quite selective in what statistics they used to criticise NZ educat…

And here we have the update of the previous post...

...a totally unbiased and journalistically sound appraisel...
Well John Key turned up, little security dudes in tow, and proceeded to smile
smugly whilst Therese Arseneau introduced him. He then attempted to get
the students on-side with a few wily remarks about engineering students
and the word 'shit'.

The Ice having been broken, he prattled on about the economy and getting NZ
into a powerful position in Asia (and how he admired the business prowess of his
chinese-commie minister… Continue

John Key speaking at UC Thursday 29 April.

John Key is coming to speak to the 100-level PolSci Students in our Lecture tomorrow (Thurs). I'll give this an update after to let people know how it went. It'll probably be pointless, but might be a little bit interesting.

What electorate are you in (if known)?
Ilam
Why do you support Labour?
I believe in Democratic Socialism. I think we need to keep all our SOE's the way they are, along with making some reforms in our Education and Health systems. In other words I believe we need to have these areas owned fully by the people, and operated by their elected govt. New Zealand needs to revisit it's Labour hey-days of the post-war era. That's when things were really good, people were looked after by their government. NZ founded a fantastic Social Welfare system, and we can definately get back to it- though probably in a more moderate form.
What one thing would you like the Party to do that it's not doing now?
Aside from be in government, I'd like to see the Party make more effort to mobilise it's current members across the country to start spreading Labour's message- what we want to achieve. The earlier we start the longer we have to ensure people know what Labour will be doing for them if they tick us.

This is like FB. but not.

Ah, just joined YL. I've been meaning to for a while, but I procrastinate much. I'll be more involved and less tired from now on though XD.

Yeah Nelson meetings went well - a mixture of work, plus campaigning to the Nelson Labour Electorate Committee for their vote for the Regional position on NZ Council.
