Profile Information

What electorate are you in (if known)?
Taranaki/King Country
Why do you support Labour?
Labour is the one party that is most closely aligned with my personal beliefs and ideals on how society, families and the economy should be shaped and functioning. Labours policies ensure the well being and welfare of our nation as a whole
What one thing would you like the Party to do that it's not doing now?
The party needs to rejuvenate in a more practical and politically savvy manner. NEW & FRESH BLOOD IS NEEDED!

My most immediate concern!

My most immediate concern is on the future direction of the Labour Party and the lack of its presence in the rural heartland sector (particularly in our region). The reshuffle caused great concern to me and many others, as a Public Relations and Communications Consultant I wasn't entirely convinced of the so called "rejuvenation" attempt by the party hierarchy. In my view it was unfortunately a failed attempt.

As a member I believe that the Party needs to seriously consider adopting a more politically savvy image. Public perception quite clearly sates that Labour is looking old and tired compared to Nationals lively and youthful presence. Fresh blood is desperately needed within the party and this needs to be drawn from grassroots level. Now is the hour to make it all happen! I’m happy to make a contribution in whatever way possible.

Labour needs a reality check!

Labour needs a reality check?

I’ve said it once and I'll say it again; the labour party needs a reality check! Yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion however at the end of the day the ones that really matter are the ones that will get us back in the governing seat. Only then can we drive the country forward.

Clearly something needs to change. We got cast aside by voters at the last elections for the simple reason that we lost touch with the nation...we lost touch with New Zealanders. Fo… Continue

Maori and Unemployment

Kia Ora tatou

Unarguably Maori and Pacifica have always represented the majority group in New Zealand’s underachievement statistics. It’s been an issue of grave concern and debate for many decades. I personally find it a rather disturbing reality that a solution to the problem is made to seem almost non existence.

I have witnessed and experienced personally the actual lack of unity amongst people when it comes to finding an effective solution to the problem. Government agencies, community orga… Continue

That all sounds great; let me know what support you need and what I can do to help. If you'll send me your contacts I'll arrange to have you meet Hon Rick Barker who's the Labour List MP based in TKC as soon as possible.

Hi Nigel, your comments are interesting and quite a challenge. Maybe our views depend a little on which end of the age spectrum we're coming from? To me, rejuvenation means rather more than replace the old with the new... I look at the 13 '3rd Formers' (I'm reliably informed they so call themselves); Jacinda, Iain, Carmel, Stuart, Chris, Grant, and the others I haven't met yet, and find their youth, intellect, and energy hugely exciting. I look at those who've been in the House a bit longer, like Moana, Charles, Darren, Nanaia, David and I see much the same with seasoning added. If, from my pov, you add the leadership, experience, wisdom, stamina and mana of our elders, like Phil, Annette, Trevor, Parekura, Ruth, Lianne, we have a great team... I must say I see very little similar on the other side of the House- their front bench has been pretty much recycled several times with the exception of the PM who has never held so much as a Ministerial Portfolio before. Still I am concerned that you, and no doubt others, don't see what I see - and I'd like to hear more from your pov. My main driver is to find you and others like you, and support you to reenergise Labour in TKC!!
